Guten Tag! If you are interested in learning German, I have compiled a list of the many free resources available to teach yourself or your family. Everything is completely free, no strings attached! There are many sites where you can find free language guides and lessons for various levels. Some other sources are books that have been translated into German for native English speakers to learn from. You can also find online communities that will provide personalized feedback on your written skills if you post something in your first language and then post the same thing translated into German. There's also plenty of free German audio, for example I found that Spotify has a lot of playlists with playlists based on music videos that are in multiple languages. You can even find some free German movies online. I found links to two sites with full length movies all completely in German, including subtitles so you can follow along even if the audio is too fast to pick up on your own. I have compiled a list below of some great resources available, so check it out! There are many books out there that have been translated into English specifically for English speakers learning German, which will allow you to practice reading proper grammar and vocabulary without the learning curve that comes with reading an entire book written in another language. I found a few sites that have free PDF downloads of these books, and I've compiled a list below. There are also plenty of free PDFs available for grammar focused websites, such as the Blue Book German Grammar. Other than just reading guides and lesson plans you can also find online interactive courses that provide correct answers to your questions about grammar and vocabulary by playing mini games that test your knowledge. One bonus about all of these resources is that you can use the audio to practice the vocabulary and grammar, which is something that I think can't be beat!
